DESIGN STAGE
2018
PROJECT FEATURES
  • A unique LNG storage capacity for the Russian Federation;
  • Fractured bedrock soils at the LNG storage facility's base;
  • Seismic activity in the region;
  • Specific loads and impacts due to LNG storage technology and design-basis accident scenarios.
SCOPE OF WORK
Design Documentation Stage:
  • Substantiation of design decisions;
  • Technical consulting;
  • Calculations of the main load-bearing structures and foundations.
DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS
1. Outer tank
Foundation slab and dome roof: monolithic reinforced concrete.
Cylindrical wall: prestressed in both directions – monolithic reinforced concrete.
Inner tank wall support ring: reinforced concrete blocks.
2. Soil foundations: fissured rock.
3. Inner tank and secondary bottom: cryogenic steel;
4. Inner tank suspended roof: aluminum alloy;
5. Lining (gas insulation): structural steel.
SAKHALIN — 1
The isothermal complex, part of the Far East Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Production Complex, is planned for construction in the Ulchsky District of Khabarovsk Krai, near Exxon Neftegas Limited's oil export terminal on the Klykov Peninsula. The nearest settlement is the village of De-Kastri, approximately 5 km away.

A closed-type, double-shell tank is proposed for LNG storage.
Tank capacity: 260,000 m³.

The tank's capacity and configuration were optimized based on the complex's operational needs, tanker availability, and product loading frequency.
