SOUTH BRIDGE OVER THE DAUGAVA RIVER IN RIGA, LATVIA
The bridge across the Daugava River in Riga connects Krasta Street and Slavu Bridge (right bank) with Bauskas Street (left bank). The southern bridge across the Daugava River is an 804 m long extradosed structure with spans of 110 m; three-level interchanges with spans of 20–42 m were constructed from prestressed reinforced concrete beams.
The southern bridge has a unique appearance, harmoniously combining with other crossings across the Daugava. Opened on the eve of Latvian Independence Day, in November 2008, the bridge became the largest infrastructure facility in Latvia.
